The Senior Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, county, and private funding requirements. This role is responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, budgeting support, audits, and grant reporting. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and have experience working with audits and funded programs.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily accounting activities across all functional areas, including Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), Payroll (P/R), and General Ledger (G/L).

  • Review and process Accounts Payable, including expense coding, data entry into accounting systems, report preparation, and check processing.

  • Prepare monthly billing invoices and fiscal reports for funding agencies.

  • Maintain the General Ledger, including bank reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and data input.

  • Process payroll and assist with related journal entries and reconciliations.

  • Assist with account analysis, financial reports, and preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.

  • Assist with the development, monitoring, and revision of organizational budgets.

  • Develop and maintain accounting procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, county, and private contract and grant requirements.

  • Prepare annual program cost reports for Controller review and submit finalized reports to county agencies.

  • Review third-party subcontractor monthly billing invoices for accuracy; request corrections and missing documentation as needed.

  • Coordinate with external auditors to complete annual financial audits and program-specific audits.

  • $2,000 Recruitment Bonus:

Qualifications Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on finance and/or accounting experience
    , preferably with non-profit organizations.

  • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems;
    Blackbaud experience a plus
    .

  • Flexible work habits with the ability to shift priorities quickly and work extended hours when needed.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office products;
    strong Excel skills required
    .

  • Payroll system experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience working with government contracts and grants preferred.

  • Familiarity with cost reporting and funding agency requirements preferred.

  • CPA or CPA-track a plus.
