We are partnering with a privately held real estate investment firm seeking a hands‑on Controller to join their team in West LA. With a portfolio spanning luxury hospitality, high‑end residential, and landmark commercial office properties, the company is fully vertically integrated and known for its design‑forward assets and long‑term vision.
The Controller will report to the Head of Accounting and play a key role in overseeing day‑to‑day corporate and property‑level accounting while driving improvements in systems and processes. This is an opportunity to step into a stable, family office environment where you’ll manage a small but experienced team, help drive process improvement, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across a diverse portfolio of real estate assets.

Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily corporate and property‑level accounting functions, including GL, AP/AR, CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and consolidations across multiple entities.
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering collaboration and accountability across long‑tenured staff.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to modernize back‑office operations (e.g., automation of payments, streamlining reporting, and strengthening internal controls).
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for ownership.
- Coordinate and maintain lender compliance, insurance renewals, and tax filings.
- Support cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and ad hoc reporting for leadership.
- Partner cross‑functionally with operations, legal, and property teams to ensure accurate financial tracking and alignment.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in real estate accounting
- Strong understanding of both corporate and property‑level accounting in real estate (office, retail, or hospitality all relevant).
- Proven success leading and developing accounting teams, ideally with long‑tenured staff.
- Experience implementing process improvements, system enhancements, or automation initiatives.
- Experience with Yardi preferred
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Must be based in Los Angeles and able to work 100% on‑site in West LA.
