Overview
The Quantum and Condensed Matter Physics Group is seeking qualified candidates to hire as post-bachelor students to work within our research teams. This is an educational opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge scientific research and to learn new skills and areas.
The Quantum and Condensed Matter Physics Group (T-4) in the Theoretical Division conducts both basic and applied theoretical research in a wide range of areas, including quantum matter, strongly correlated systems, quantum information science, quantum computing, quantum photonics, materials physics, nonequilibrium dynamics, statistical physics, applied energy, and atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics including opacity. This research supports the missions of the U.S. Department of Energy.
You will work on a research project with a staff scientist mentor and co-mentor in one of the aforementioned areas. The position is expected to begin typically in the summer, but it can begin anytime during the year.

MinimumJob Requirements
- Bachelor degree (or soon to be awarded) from an accredited undergraduate degree program in physics, chemistry, quantum science, materials science, or a closely related field.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
- Must have earned an Associate s or a Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution (or international equivalent) within the last 3 years in an appropriate field.
- Must have graduated with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
- Experience with conducting scientific research.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context.
Work Location:
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
