Research Scientist, Data Scientist
Overview
The T-1 group is seeking qualified candidates to hire as undergraduate Students to work within our research teams. This is an educational opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge scientific research and to learn new skills and areas. Selected students must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 on their undergraduate work. Typical summer internship is 10-12 weeks. Selected candidates will be paired with a mentoring team and will work closely with one of the scientific teams within T-1.

Job Requirements:
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's Degree program in Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related field
- A minimum 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA
- Familiarity with the usage of scientific software packages and how to perform analytical calculations
- Ability to work within a collaborative team environment
- Desire to learn new things and openness to work on different projects
Desired
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with scientific research methods and data demonstrated by completed coursework in the natural sciences
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context
Education / Experience: Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, engineering, physics, or a related field
Work LocationOnsite location in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Security and Employment DetailsNo Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The laboratory requires a new-employment drug test and maintains a policy that includes random drug testing. Federal law supersedes state laws regarding marijuana.
