About the Role

COMPA Industries is seeking a Senior Radiation Control Technician (RCT) to provide technical leadership and radiological support for high-hazard operations at Los Alamos National Laboratory. At this level, you're not just executing radiological work - you're the primary point of contact for planning and resolving complex radiological control demands, the subject matter expert others turn to, and a key contributor to the safety and compliance of entire projects.

This is a senior role with real authority and real responsibility. If you're an experienced RCT who thrives in dynamic, high-consequence environments and takes pride in leading by example, this is the opportunity for you.

🚫 Mandatory Requirements - Must Meet Both to Be Considered
  • U.S. Citizenship required for Q Clearance eligibility
  • Eligibility for DOE Q Clearance, including background investigation and DOE Order 426.2 compliance
What You'll Do
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for planning, coordination, and resolution of conflicting radiological control demands in challenging, high-hazard conditions
  • Act as subject matter expert for radiological work control packages (RWCPs), ensuring compliance across all radiological work including high-hazard operations
  • Provide technical supervision and mentorship to junior RCTs, fostering safety culture and professional growth
  • Anticipate and resolve radiological problems independently, escalating issues beyond scope when necessary
  • Coordinate work area resources to support safe and efficient facility operations
  • Demonstrate safety and compliance leadership through both actions and mentorship
  • Wear required PPE including respiratory protection; lift and carry radiation protection equipment as needed
  • Perform work outdoors and outside normal working hours as required
What You Bring

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform the full range of radiological support activities
  • Proven expertise in tactical decision-making in dynamic, high-hazard environments
  • Strong background in DOE 10 CFR 835 compliance and radiation protection procedures
  • Ability to develop creative, independent solutions to complex radiological challenges
  • Experience coordinating across teams and providing technical leadership
  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for DOE Q Clearance under DOE Order 426.2

Preferred:

  • Broad knowledge across health physics and related disciplines
  • Experience authoring or reviewing radiological work control packages (RWCPs)
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with customers, technicians, and management at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to influence group outcomes through technical expertise and sound judgment

Education:

  • High school diploma plus 4–6 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Additional certifications, technical training, or an associate's degree may be expected
  • Subject to DOE Order 426.2 qualification requirements
