Position: Quality Services Group Leader (QPA Manager 4)

What You Will Do

You will be a part of the Institutional Quality and Performance Assurance (IQPA) Leadership Team as the Group Leader for the Quality Support Services (QSS) Group. You will report to the IQPA Division Leader and be responsible for managing the Deployed Quality and Project Execution teams. The focus of QSS is to provide deployed quality professionals across the Laboratory and interface with Capital Projects on new construction, modifications, and maintenance projects.

  • Serves as the primary interface between IQPA and customers seeking deployed quality services.
  • Coordinating successful quality assurance support of projects and programs to ensure their success.
  • Managing the capabilities of the group to ensure that the QSS group can have maximum impact on the mission of LANL.
  • Managing the overall integration of QSS with IQPA Quality programs to include the relevant policies, tools, processes, and personnel in support of the Laboratory mission.
  • Interpreting requirements, engaging in strategic planning, and managing day-to-day operations of the group and strategizing the allocation of resources and programs in support of the mission.

Minimum

Job Requirements:

  • Technical Leadership/Influence:
    Expert-level experience leading technical operations and demonstrating effective decision-making and creative problem-solving.
  • Staffing and Budget

    Experience:

    Experience as a line manager supervising staff and the planning and execution of developing and implementing staffing and budget plans in a deployed services environment.
  • Quality Management:
    Demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level, planning and managing quality assurance in support of complex and/or high-hazard operations or programs.
  • Collaboration:

    Advanced experience with team building and collaboration to develop, implement, and manage innovative service delivery processes.
  • Communication:
    Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills that include reporting on operations and business programs to Federal oversight partners and program owners.
  • Clearance:
    Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' Clearance, which typically requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Education/

    Experience:

    Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 12 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Qualifications:

  • LANL Mission:
    Familiarity with the LANL mission and programs including NQA-1 implementation and DOE 414.1D.
  • DOE/NNSA Mission:
    Understanding of the DOE/NNSA mission and experience working with NNSA oversight personnel (Site Offices).
  • Quality Standards:
    Experience leading work activities that provide integration of one or more of the following: 10 CFR 830 Subpart A Quality Assurance Requirements, DOE Order 414.1D Quality Assurance, Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) Consensus Standard, or SD330, Los Alamos National Laboratory Quality Assurance Program.
  • Process Improvement

    Experience:

    Experience executing improvement projects, including familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and/or Agile frameworks.

Additional Details

Location:

Los Alamos, NM. The position is a regular appointment with a commitment of one year.
Clearance: Q clearance required. US citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances.
Drug Test:
Successful applicants must complete a new‑employment drug test; a positive test for marijuana will result in termination of employment.
