What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Production Control Specialist level 1 or level 2, depending on the skills and qualifications of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. DP (Detonator Production) Division is the premier Production Agency (PA) assigned to produce WR (War Reserve) detonators for the Nation's nuclear stockpile security mission.
The Division is part of LANL's Weapons Production Directorate, and is comprised of a team of motivated, highly-skilled technical and operational support staff working in an integrated format. The organization is centered on high-rigor manufacturing operations to produce precision, safe and reliable WR detonator products. DP partners closely with customers and stakeholders such as NNSA (National Nuclear Security Administration), Weapon System Design Agencies (LANL, Sandia, and Livermore), and LANL program management orgs to deliver on uniquely challenging, high-consequence National security objectives.

Production Control Specialist Levels
This position will be filled at either the Production Control Specialist level 1 or level 2, depending on the skills and qualifications of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at a higher level. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with peers, colleagues within the division, co-located organizations, and various support organizations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating manufacturing operation improvements, working with the FLM to support production activities, championing process improvement, initiative implementation, and taking on special projects aimed at improving DP-3's manufacturing status quo. This role reports directly to the DP-3 FLMs and GL and involves regular communication of project status, outcomes, and recommendations. It will require the ability to present information accurately and clearly in a formal manner to any level of management.

- Production Control Specialist 1 (Salary: $59,200 - $91,600)
- Lead and execute special projects and targeted improvement initiatives.
- Small Project Management: Manage a small portfolio of strategic, high-impact assignments that support Manufacturing Operation Teams' goals and enhance operational efficiency.

Experience:
Demonstrate awareness of manufacturing operations and DP business practices; collaborate across all DP teams; apply strong analytical and organizational skills and maintain a results-driven mindset. - Hands on Manufacturing: Support hands-on production activities as needed and provide SME input as appropriate.
- Production Control Specialist 2 (Salary: $71,200 - $112,900)
- Autonomy/Initiative: Operate with a high degree of autonomy; be very familiar with DP operations and navigating DP projects.
- Systematic Problem Solving: Identify long-term and complex opportunities, shape project scopes, align stakeholders, and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Leadership: Cross-team functional leadership and exceptional communication; ability to navigate ambiguity, influence at all levels, and manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Hands on Manufacturing: Support hands-on production activities and train teammates; provide SME input as appropriate.

Organizational
Skills:
Knowledge of organizing information and project data for self-management and clear status communication.
Project planning and control: Experience in manufacturing operations control and improvement; knowledge of resource planning and optimization and multi-organization resource integration.
Communication: Strong written and oral communication; ability to communicate with tact, diplomacy, discretion, and attention to detail; experience with customers and stakeholders related to DP-3.
Creativity: Ability to think creatively to improve status quo and collaborate with SMEs to develop solutions.
Trustworthy: Ability to build relationships across Detonator Production groups; work independently with a proactive mindset aligned with future mission capabilities.
Hands On Safety: Experience using hand tools, hydraulic presses, or laboratory equipment; understanding of Con Ops, HPI practices, P300, and Pause/Stop work Authority.
