What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Project Leader 3 or Project Leader 4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The Enterprise Planning and Reporting (PAT-3) group within the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP), Production Analysis and Transformation (PAT-DO) division is responsible for consistent messaging and reporting of milestones, the development of strategic planning, and the creation of programmatic documents and data‑visualization tools for organizations in ALDWP. Key duties include establishing a robust reporting structure, implementing efficient processes for data collection, performing technical analyses, generating reports that demonstrate the ability to understand complex scientific information, and identifying and transforming patterns, trends and outliers in large data sets.
Responsibilities– Project Leader 4
- Manage all aspects of moderately complex projects related to technical scope within the Production Agency, ensuring successful completion within the approved scope, schedule and budget.
- Develop project plans and detailed work breakdown structures, negotiate work packages, and assign work to complete deliverables.
- Oversee mid‑sized project teams in planning, tracking, and execution of project plans from initiation to completion.
- Under limited direction, monitor performance and manage scope, schedule, budget, and baselines under change control.
- Integrate project work with other Laboratory priorities and commitments, including safety, security, environmental compliance, quality, contractor assurance, and business imperatives.
- Provide the information and graphics needed to report project status and issues to the program manager and to LANL senior managers and workers.
- Negotiate with program and line managers to ensure resources are available and identify procurement and contracting needs.
- Present project status and issues to program managers and senior managers, interacting directly with federal and site‑office program managers as needed.
- Same core responsibilities as Project Leader 4, with a focus on managing moderately complex projects and ensuring they are completed on time, within scope and budget.
Job Requirements
Communication: Proven ability to conceptualize and communicate technical information clearly and concisely. Experience developing communication plans and writing reports that communicate key findings and data. Demonstrated experience presenting to senior management and stakeholders.
Leadership: Demonstrated effective leadership skills, including feedback openness, negotiation, motivation, and strategic direction. Experience leading large, complex scientific or engineering projects.
Organizational
Skills:
High attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities. Experience creating robust reporting structures and implementing data collection and analysis systems.
Stakeholder Management: Ability to plan, organize, lead, and track assigned tasks to completion. Ability to interact effectively with all personnel levels and resolve conflicts.
Continuous Improvement Expertise: Experience monitoring and analyzing communication metrics, providing data‑driven recommendations.
Teamwork: Strong background in cross‑functional collaboration, active listening, and negotiation.

Knowledge and Skills- Lead teams in researching or solving business‑critical problems.
- Produce dashboards, graphs, tables, and visualizations.
- Create presentation decks using PowerPoint.
- Provide written reports of findings and collaborate with internal and external teams.
- Expert knowledge of discipline‑specific technical content.
