Position: Manufacturing Manager 3 (Swing Shift) (First Line Manager)

What You Will Do

We are seeking highly motivated First Line Managers to support important national security missions at LANL, working in the Plutonium Supply and Disposition (PSD) Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, organizing, and defining strategic objectives.
  • Establishing scope, schedule, and budget through work package development and resource management.
  • Delivering quality products and enforcing adherence to quality standards.
  • Ensuring administrative and operating procedures are current and adhered to before releasing work.
  • Working with facility operations staff to execute work safely, securely, and in compliance with nuclear facility requirements.
  • Providing direct daily oversight of work, workers and the work environment.
  • Serving as the safety responsible line manager over people, equipment, and processes.
  • Communicating line management reporting on work status, deliverables and commitments.
  • Directing and overseeing work performed by employees including “on the floor” supervision.
  • Mentoring and motivating peers.
  • Providing financial stewardship over budget, procurement, time and labor, travel, and property.
What You Need

Minimum

Job Requirements:

Management
  • Experience in managing people and/or projects, including planning, organizing, resource management, and demonstrated experience creating work scope, schedules, budgets, coordinating work activities, and tracking progress.
Financial Stewardship
  • Demonstrated experience with financial stewardship and identification of resource requirements and development of schedules.
Leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively supervising, negotiating, conducting conflict resolution, mentoring, and personnel development.
Communication
  • Effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by internal and external interactions, seminars, briefings, presentations, publications, and ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers.
  • Communication of technical issues and solutions to employees, peers, and upper management.
Safety/Compliance
  • Experience performing work in a manufacturing environment and executing work in compliance with safety and facility requirements while maintaining rigorous operations.
Education / Experience

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. DOE Order 426.2A – requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science or technology and 4 years of nuclear experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Nuclear

    Experience:

    Experience with nuclear high hazard facility operating requirements, safety authorization basis and/or Conduct of Operations planning and execution of work.
  • Diverse Team

    Experience:

    Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, scientists, and professional staff.
  • Clearance:
    Active DOE Q Clearance and HRP Certification highly desirable.
