Operations Support Manager 6 – Los Alamos National Laboratory
What You Will DoThe Associate Laboratory Director for Facilities and Operations seeks an experienced professional to serve as the Division Leader for the Operations Support Division, which provides laboratory-wide operations support focused on Conduct of Operations, Integrated Work Management, technical training, and readiness of new and existing activities.
Operational and Safety Management LeadershipThe Division Leader demonstrates advanced knowledge of facility operations within the DOE enterprise, including NNSA facilities and projects. The role requires expertise in Conduct of Operations programs, Integrated Work Management programs, technical training programs, work planning, hazard identification, and implementation of controls to support safe operations in a DOE nuclear environment.
Readiness and Nuclear Facility ExpertiseThe leader exhibits comprehensive understanding of requirements for verifying readiness for startup of new Hazard Category 1, 2, and 3 nuclear facilities and activities, and restart of existing facilities in accordance with DOE Order 425.1E. The role provides subject‑matter expertise across all elements of the Readiness Program, ensuring compliance with regulatory and institutional expectations.
Training, Quality Assurance, and Institutional ProgramsThe position supports Conduct of Operations training, Integrated Work Management training, and other technical training initiatives, as well as quality assurance activities such as Management Self‑Assessments and Lead Assessor responsibilities. The Division Leader serves as a voting member of the Technical Training Center’s Institutional Training Action Board and contributes to the development and execution of institutionally driven training initiatives.
Strategic Collaboration and Continuous ImprovementThe leader collaborates closely with senior leadership, subject‑matter experts, and cross‑functional teams to ensure safe and effective operation of LANL’s nuclear facilities. The role remains current on applicable regulations, policies, and best practices and provides informed recommendations to continuously improve programs across the Associate Laboratory Directorate.
Organizational LeadershipThe successful candidate demonstrates proven success leading multidisciplinary organizations, aligning people, processes, and priorities to achieve operational excellence and sustained compliance.
MinimumJob Requirements
Security And Citizenship Requirements: U.S. citizenship and a current Department of Defense Top Secret or DOE Q security clearance.
Regulatory and Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of DOE Order 420.1C (Facility Safety), the Unreviewed Safety Question process, and Implementation Verification Review procedures; familiarity with DOE Conduct of Operations, Integrated Work Management, quality assurance activities, and readiness verification processes for startup or restart of nuclear facilities.

Exceptional skill in preparing and presenting oral and written reports; strong analytical, problem‑solving, collaborative, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Program Development and Safety Culture:
Proven success in designing and implementing program objectives, establishing evaluation metrics, and assessing program effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.
Training and Certification Requirements:
This position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2; entry‐level requirements are established to ensure qualified performance.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 15 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
