What You Will Do

Sigma Division is seeking an undergraduate student to help develop advanced electrode position coatings. There is a specific need to develop a semi‑automated electroplating system to accelerate electrochemical parameter optimization. Responsibilities include conducting research and reporting results back to the team and mentor. In addition, the student is encouraged to attend seminars and other LANL functions to expand their knowledge base and broaden interest.

Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Enrollment:
    Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in any science and engineering disciplines, specifically chemistry, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science and engineering.
  • Credit

    Hours:

    Must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters or the quarter system equivalent.
  • Cumulative GPA:
    Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. Candidates with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher will be most competitive.

    Skills:

    Foundational knowledge and practical experience in one or more areas such as mechanical or chemical systems, manufacturing, automation and controls, testing, or systems engineering.

Essential Job Functions

Perform tasks related to electrode position research and development, including experimental design, data analysis, and documentation. May help with troubleshooting and improving system performance.

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Clearance

Position will be cleared to Q level. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
