About the Role

COMPA Industries is seeking an experienced Senior Work Control Planner to support complex operational and maintenance activities at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In this role, you'll be a key contributor to the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of high-consequence facility work - developing, reviewing, and closing high-quality work packages that uphold rigorous safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

This is a senior-level, largely independent role for a seasoned work control professional who brings deep expertise in complex facility environments and can hit the ground running with minimal oversight.

🚫 Mandatory Requirements - Must Meet All Three to Be Considered
  • Extensive experience creating and closing work packages for complex, regulated, or high-hazard facilities
  • Deep understanding of work control, safety practices, and lock-out/tag-out for mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan, develop, and manage complex maintenance or modification activities
What You'll Do
  • Prepare, review, and issue work packages - corrective, preventive, and modifications - for complex activities in full compliance with applicable regulations
  • Write detailed step-by-step instructions for isolation, containment, and de-energization of mechanical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological systems
  • Analyze and estimate time, labor, and material requirements for complex projects
  • Manage work package priorities to ensure timely and accurate execution
  • Ensure compliance with Laboratory, industry, legal, and environmental requirements throughout all work phases
  • Perform related administrative tasks including permits, testing requirements, documentation, records management, and training coordination
  • Validate that all materials, processes, and results meet established quality and safety specifications
  • Prioritize safety and security at all times - with the authority and responsibility to halt work if either is compromised
What You Bring

Required:

  • Extensive experience in complex work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance
  • Advanced knowledge of safety practices, hazardous operating configurations, and lock-out/tag-out procedures in complex facilities
  • Proven ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Proficiency with computerized work management systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to independently prepare and present work control documentation and reports
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance

Preferred:

  • Broad work control experience across unique or specialized complex facilities
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing competing priorities
  • Effective collaboration with maintenance, operations support, and engineering, and facility staff

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Post-graduate coursework may be expected
Role Structure
  • Supervision received: Minimal day-to-day direction - this role operates with a high degree of independence
  • Supervision exercised: May provide direction to maintenance, operations support, or clerical staff
  • Key contacts: Frequent interaction with management, engineers, technicians, and operational staff
