Designer​/Drafter 1 & 2; Mechanical

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for Designer/Drafter 1&2 (Mechanical) opportunities in Los Alamos, NM, to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Per Diem available for those who qualify.

100% onsite (TA-3 Otowi)

4/10s M-Thur (5a-330p)

• Performs preconstruction design reviews and ensures designs are ready to execute.
• Performs material takeoffs from native files and helps procurement order correct materials.
• Performs 2-phase review cycle (initial and final), supplies craft execution with shop drawings, setting drawings with dimensions to use as guides to assist in order and installing equipment.
• Perform walkdowns in TA-55, PF4, and various warehouses – use of government vehicle to go back and forth. (PF4 is a rad area, candidate would need to be able to walk in there).
• Produces and details routine drawings/layouts of components, facilities and/or systems.
• Generates and/or modifies computer-aided design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity based on information from others.
• Develops basic computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and design models under the direction of a senior designer.
• Uses industry codes, standards, and customer specifications to prepare work plans, drawings and layouts.
• Applies engineering design principles to design and fabrication of components and assemblies as directed.
• Understands fabrication, construction, operation, and maintenance requirements relevant to designated discipline.
• Works with engineering team to ensure drawing quality.
• Performs calculations in support of technical problems.
• Produce work in accordance with budget and schedule constraints.
• Participates in process improvement activities.

• High School Diploma
  • Level 1:
    One-to-two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level 2:
    Three-to-five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience with Building Integrated Model (BIM) drafting tool.
• CAD certification. No preference to which version.

• United States Citizenship
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance. Existing clearance preferred.
