COMPA Industries is seeking an experienced Radiation Control Technician (RCT) to provide radiological and operational health physics support across assigned facilities and high-hazard areas at Los Alamos National Laboratory. At this level, you'll work with a high degree of independence, applying your technical expertise across a wide range of radiological monitoring, emergency response, and compliance activities - while also mentoring and directing less experienced technicians in the field.

This is a mid-to-senior level role for an RCT who is fully proficient in their craft, comfortable operating with limited supervision, and ready to take on broader responsibility in one of the nation's most important nuclear research environments.

🚫 Mandatory Requirements - Must Meet Both to Be Considered
  • U.S. Citizenship required for Q Clearance eligibility
  • Eligibility for DOE Q Clearance, including background investigation and DOE Order 426.2 compliance
What You'll Do
  • Provide radiological and operational health physics support in assigned facilities and high-hazard areas
  • Conduct workplace surveillance and interpret radiological data to ensure safe operating conditions
  • Ensure compliance with radiation protection procedures and 10 CFR 835 requirements
  • Respond to radiation-related emergencies and coordinate with health physicists on re-entry strategies
  • Mentor and assist personnel in contamination control, exposure management, emergency response, radiation permitting, and procedural compliance
  • Supervise and direct other technicians as needed during field assignments
  • Support posting compliance, work permit reviews, and provide input on facility design as needed
  • Wear required PPE including respiratory protection; lift and carry radiation monitoring equipment
  • Perform duties outdoors and outside normal working hours as required
What You Bring

Required:

  • Skilled and fully proficient in radiological monitoring and emergency response
  • Experience with posting compliance, work permit reviews, and facility design input
  • Ability to apply technical principles across a broad range of radiological tasks
  • Capable of operating with limited supervision on daily responsibilities
  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for DOE Q Clearance under DOE Order 426.2

Preferred:

  • Broad understanding of health physics principles and related disciplines
  • Strong judgment in radiological safety decision-making
  • Experience training or mentoring others in RCT procedures
  • Knowledge of interdependencies across health physics and operational functions

Education:

  • High school diploma plus 2-4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Additional certifications, technical training, or coursework may be expected
  • Subject to DOE Order 426.2 qualification requirements
