Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) plays a crucial role in maintaining the nation's nuclear deterrent and advancing scientific research. At the heart of LANL's mission is the Pit Technologies (PT) Division, a key component of the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP). This division is at the forefront of manufacturing operations at Technical Area 55 (TA‑55), a state‑of‑the‑art facility dedicated to plutonium research and pit production.
The PT Division is currently in growth mode in terms of scope, budget, and personnel, and is currently looking to fill out the management chain in support of the Division's vision. PT has five openings for a Manufacturing Manager 4 (Group Leader) in various groups, including PT‑2 (Plutonium Machining), PT‑3 (Plutonium Assembly and Welding), PT‑4 (Plutonium Foundry), PT‑6 (Production Technical Support), and PT‑7 (Plutonium NDE & Inspection).
These Group Leader positions provide leadership and management for groups totaling approximately 400 personnel, including technicians, R&D engineers, technologists, and first line managers that are responsible for various aspects of pit production, experimental science campaigns, and other national security missions. The selected applicants will provide technical leadership and management of tactical and strategic operations for their respective group in support of meeting objective of re‑establishing rate production of plutonium pits at TA‑55.
They will work with stakeholders across LANL, partner laboratories, other national security enterprise labs, plants and sites, and with the laboratory's strategic collaborations to advance production efficiency, technical excellence, and scientific excellence of the Pit Technologies Division.
