This role is an Electrical Technician position supporting Tech Source and our client, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Tech Source has a decades-long relationship with LANL and is the prime contractor supporting the Scorpius project in Los Alamos, NM.
In this role, you will support the installation, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and integration of electrical systems for the Scorpius linear induction electron accelerator, which supports subcritical experiment diagnostics at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). You will work closely with engineers and technicians to ensure electrical subsystems are built, installed, and maintained to specification, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Install, wire, assemble, and test electrical systems and subsystems for accelerator components (e.g., IVA, SAC assemblies, LRU-8)
- Perform electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on power, control, and instrumentation systems
- Coordinate and support fabrication, assembly, and electrical testing activities
- Assist with system integration, maintenance, and upgrades
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
- Use lab test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, hipot testers) to verify system performance
- Support and help train technicians in electrical assembly and safe work practices
- Collaborate with engineers and technical teams across multiple national labs and sites
- Ensure compliance with electrical, quality, and safety standards, including disciplined operations and documentation requirements
- Bachelor's in Engineering Technology, Science, Math, or related field
- 5 years' of relevant experience (or equivalent)
- Basic knowledge of GD&T and experience with mechanical assembly
- Familiarity with lab test equipment and basic shop tools
- Familiarity with electron beam accelerator systems
- Experience interpreting technical drawings and disciplined operations
