The Safeguards Science and Technology organization's purpose is to defend against state-actor misuse of nuclear materials by developing and testing new technologies for domestic and international safeguards and providing training for the safeguard's community. We are seeking graduate students interested in nuclear science/engineering related careers who want to make an impact in one or more areas of our Global Security mission.

Job Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in science or engineering, including computer science while pursuing a science or engineering degree.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) in a professional scientific context and a commitment to achieving results in a complex social and organizational setting.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Record of fostering a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment free from discrimination and harassment.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in a science or engineering discipline with an overall GPA of 3.2 (out of 4.0) or higher, and enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent). If preparing to begin a graduate program, documentation indicating matriculation into an appropriate degree program is required.
- Experience or advanced coursework in nuclear nonproliferation, design of radiation detection systems, or nuclear reactor design.
- Ability to obtain a Q Clearance. Citizenship rules apply; specifics are described in the original posting. Availability of clearance is determined by the Federal Government and not by the employer.
- Computer programming (Python, C++, Java, C#, etc.) for scientific/engineering applications and managing databases (SQL or similar).
- Experience with RFID software platforms, hardware setup, system integration, and troubleshooting for passive UHF and active UWB systems.
- Familiarity with ANSYS HFSS for high-frequency simulations.
- Working knowledge of MCNP (Monte Carlo N-Particle) code for particle transport simulations.

Work Environment & LocationWork Location:
Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
