The Field Engineer 1 is responsible for ensuring that the technical aspects of construction and maintenance projects are executed in full conformance with the Approved Project Documents by monitoring facility maintenance and construction activities. This is accomplished by providing input during scoping, design, execution, and project closeout to ensure baseline documents are accurate, design documents are adhered to, and as-built configurations are verified.
Field Engineers expedite project execution by identifying issues, coordinating technical solutions, and providing timely guidance to the constructor through approved procedures. The level 1 Field Engineer will require a basic understanding of field engineering principles and have an aptitude to apply these principles throughout the execution of the job. The selected candidate will support our Install Engineering team. - Nuclear Facilities Field Engineer 2 $104,100 - $172,200
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level, the level 2 Field Engineer will require a demonstrated understanding of field engineering principles and have applied these principles on the job.
Shift Work This position will be subject to 24/7 coverage, which will involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager based on needs for the facilities.

Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic construction engineering principles
- Aptitude in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructability
- Ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel
- Aptitude for conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standards
- Aptitude in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor
Job Requirements for Nuclear Facilities Field Engineer 2
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering principles
- Demonstrated expertise in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructability
- Demonstrated experience interpreting construction industry specifications, construction means and methods, and national construction codes and standards
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel
- Demonstrated proficiency in conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standards
- Demonstrated proficiency in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor
Level 1 Nuclear Facilities Field Engineer: A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and 2 years of relevant work experience. An advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired. Current registration as an Engineer in Training EIT is highly desirable.
Level 2 Nuclear Facilities Field Engineer: A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. An advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired. Current registration as a Professional Engineer PE is highly desirable.
Desired Qualifications- Design and/or construction experience in nuclear, accelerator, laboratory, or industrial facility operations
- Fundamental knowledge of engineering and construction techniques and, applications of technology and tools to conventional facility operation and construction operations
- Experience with design and/or installation of facility and infrastructure systems
- Awareness of industry regulatory or DOE NNSA codes, standards, and criteria relevant to the construction discipline
- Knowledge of DOE and LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering
- Ability to review material take-offs against project documents to ensure compliance with design and specifications
