Project Controls Engineer – Los Alamos National LaboratoryCompa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Project Controls Engineer position at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM.
Clearance: Current Q-clearance needed
Per Diem: Approved for those that exceed the radius
The Project Controls Engineer plays an integral role in supporting Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Project Controls System. This position is pivotal to the Laboratory’s ability to track progress, manage costs, and meet project milestones. With a broad range of experience, the engineer will resolve complex challenges creatively and effectively, contribute to the development of new methods, and provide expert guidance that influences the Laboratory's success.
ResponsibilitiesAnd Duties
- Perform cost estimating, cost analysis, and control activities across various projects.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules to ensure timely completion.
- Support project organizational and administrative functions as needed.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance on cost engineering and planning/scheduling activities when delegated.
- Identify trends and deliver analysis to inform project management decisions.
- Apply Laboratory objectives and professional concepts to resolve issues in innovative ways.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of project controls theories, tools, and methods.
- Coordinate and guide the work of other personnel as needed.
- Operate independently with significant latitude in setting project objectives and determining methods and procedures.
- Experience in planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, maintenance, control, and analysis.
- Experience in cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial tracking, and analysis.
- Proficiency in personal computer operating systems and multiple discipline‑specific software applications.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of personnel supervision, administration, and training of technical and non‑technical staff.
- Understanding of engineering and construction management principles.
- Advanced knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools and processes.
- Experience serving as a Control Account Manager (CAM) or in project controls/project management roles.
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, and corrective action implementation.
- Ability to produce detailed and accurate project status reports.
- Proven ability to evaluate complex issues and develop effective solutions using creative problem‑solving.
- Recognized as an expert within the organization with a record of contributions to process and methodology development.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Post‑graduate coursework in project controls, engineering, or related disciplines is desirable.
