Quality Engineer [Electrical / QC] (Quality Engineer 1/2)
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Quality Engineer to support electrical and QC tasks. This position will be filled at either the Quality Engineer 1 or 2 level, depending on the candidate's skills. Additional responsibilities will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
Responsibilities- Perform Level II QC inspections.
- Proactively evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for corrective actions.
- Develop and update inspection procedures, reports/inspection forms/formats, protocols, and checklists.
- Act as a Non‑conformance Report Coordinator (NCRC): track, report, and foster timely closure of open non‑conformance reports.
- Monitor operations for adherence to project plans and specifications to ensure quality‑control compliance.
- Conduct inspection functions per inspection plans and record results per applicable procedures.
- Implement quality‑control procedures and policies to ensure inspection and test activities conform to applicable plans, procedures, and specifications.
- For QE 2: apply high‑level quality‑control techniques and statistical process control methods to identify correct measurement methods, tools, and systems; identify data collection points; analyze data to identify failure modes, track trends, focus improvement actions, rate performance, and measure effectiveness.
- Knowledge of and experience with quality regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting QC.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) / NFPA 70, 72; familiarity with construction codes and standards required.
- Technical knowledge in engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, and operations practices sufficient to evaluate and interpret specified requirements.
- Excellence in interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills (oral and written).
- International Code Council (ICC) Certification preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience with DOE QC programs.
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship certification program.
- Additional relevant education and/or certification in a related field.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe.
- Active DOE Q Clearance and Active HRP required.
- Quality Engineer 1: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, QE, or Industrial Systems Engineering (or related field) and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Quality Engineer 2: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, QE/QA, or Industrial Systems Engineering (or related field) and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ScheduleMay require 24/7 coverage, including shift and weekend assignments. Shift differential pay may be eligible when assigned by the manager.
Position CommitmentRegular appointment employees are required to serve a continuous period of service for eligibility to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. The commitment for this position is 1 year.
