Business Position Summary
The University of New Mexico‑Los Alamos (UNM‑LA) invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty appointment in Business/Accounting. Full‑time faculty at UNM‑LA are required to teach, engage in service, and pursue professional development activities in accordance with the established workload policies. The teaching load will mainly comprise courses in Business and Accounting such as Introduction to Business, Business Software (e.g., Quick Books and Excel), Managerial Accounting, and possibly other related disciplines based on the candidate’s qualifications and interests.
To meet the unique needs of our branch campus, a portion of the teaching load can be reallocated to service, professional development, scholarship, or administrative duties in consultation with the Dean and Program Coordinator. Faculty may have the opportunity to develop courses aligned with their specific areas of expertise and interest. Full‑time faculty members teach assigned day, evening, and weekend classes in various modalities, participate in student advising, faculty governance, other academic and institutional support activities, and may assume supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
All faculty members are expected to remain current in teaching best practices and transformational pedagogy, and to adhere to accepted standards for educators. Additional responsibilities may include supervising internships, participating in curriculum development, training and mentoring adjunct faculty, attending academic forums and meetings, engaging in undergraduate research initiatives, grant‑writing, and serving on additional department and college committees and boards as requested.
Final offer is contingent upon the applicant being able to be on campus in Los Alamos at least three days per week. Appointment begins August 10, 2026.
Starting salary is commensurate with degrees and experience. Base salary for a 1.0 FTE is $65,000 for a 9‑month faculty position, depending on qualifications. Summer teaching may be possible and optional with additional compensation. An excellent benefits package is provided (see benefits page).
Qualifications- Minimum requirements:
- Master’s degree in Accounting with 15+ graduate hours in Business by application date
- OR Master’s degree in Business with 15+ graduate hours in Accounting by application date
- Preferred qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Accounting with 15+ graduate hours in Business or Ph.D. in Business with 15+ graduate hours in Accounting by application date
- Evidence of progress/learning in Business or Accounting
- Industry experience such as CPA, CMA, or project management experience
- Experience teaching business or accounting lecture courses at a post‑secondary institution
- Experience with business and project management‑related software such as Quick Books, Oracle Primavera, MS Office Suite
- Demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities

- Official transcripts of all college or university work must be submitted before hiring can be completed
- Applicants appointed to a UNM faculty position must provide an official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to initial employment with UNM
