Are you passionate about lighting up immersive museum exhibits? As a Lighting Technician for Design and Production, Incorporated, you’ll bring exhibits to life through expert lighting installations and electrical components. You’ll work hands-on in our Shop and on-site setting the stage for breathtaking installations that captivate museum visitors.
What You’ll Be Doing- Manage and Test Equipment:
Oversee the receipt, shipping, testing and troubleshooting of lighting, AV and electrical equipment. - Collaborate and Construct:
Work closely with Shop personnel to pre-fit and install lightning fixtures, power supplies, junction boxes and conduit into exhibits. - Lead On-Site:
Serve a as site foreman as needed, either managing other installers or working independently. - Coordinate with Trades:
Liaise with subcontractors and other trades to ensure a smooth installation process. - Document Progress:
Keep detailed daily reports of both site and Shop progress. - Fine-Tune Displays:
Partner with lighting and exhibit designers to achieve the perfect final focus and adjustment of displays.

Identify causes of issues, analyze information and provide recommendations to resolve them.
- Proven skills in permanent installation and construction.
- Knowledge of systems such as DMX, ETC, Lutron, and Crestron.
- Training or experience with major lighting manufacturers such as ETC, LSI, Leviton, Strand or Color Kinetics
- Basic soldering and electronics repair skills (moving light repair a plus)
- Carpentry and metal working skills a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Familiarity with lighting control programming and rapid prototyping (Arduinio and Raspberry Pi experience a plus).
- High school diploma or GED; an Associate’s degree in technical or theatrical discipline, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Pass a background check to work on government facilities, if needed.
- Ability to travel for out-of-town projects as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 Lbs.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to self-manage.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project or Pro Core
- Familiarity with Fabrication, Manufacturing or Museum Exhibits
