Information Systems Security Engineer
Our client is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer to join a high‑performing team of cybersecurity, cloud, and systems engineering professionals. This team supports the development and sustainment of secure enclaves, delivering enterprise services and cyber network defense capabilities.
As an ISSE, you will conduct security assessments, engineer secure solutions, automate defensive cyber activities, and advise leadership on cybersecurity risks and mitigation strategies. You will secure complex mission systems in compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards using tools such as ePO, Splunk, ACAS, Azure Automation, STIG/SCAP, and Active Directory.
Base pay range$/yr - $/yr
Responsibilities- Perform and review technical security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and compliance gaps
- Engineer cybersecurity solutions supporting cyber threat and defensive operations
- Automate security monitoring, threat assessments, and reporting
- Analyze security posture trends and provide findings to ISSM/ISSO leadership
- Recommend and implement security controls aligned with DoD policies and CIA principles
- Plan and recommend system modifications based on testing, exercises, and assessments
- Mitigate or recommend acceptance of identified risks during certification and testing activities
- Certification: DoD 8570 IAT/IAM/IASAE Level III compliant
- Experience: 5–8 years in relevant cybersecurity or technology roles
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of leadership experience, or equivalent experience
- Security Clearance: Active Top Secret / SCI
- Travel: Up to 10%
Technical Skills (one or more):
- Active Directory (AD DS, ADFS, AD CS, WSUS)
- 5+ years of leadership experience in cybersecurity or a related technical field
- Microsoft Azure or other cloud-related certifications
- Onsite work required in Lorton, VA (must be local or willing to relocate)
- U.S. citizenship required due to government contract
