Position: Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Lorain, OH
Provide expert nursing care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Stepdown Unit with a focus on orthopedics, neurology, and telemetry patients. This 29-bed unit requires skilled assessment, clinical judgment, and the ability to manage complex patient needs including multi-system organ failure and trauma. Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Valid RN license in the state or compact license
• Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience, including Medical-Surgical and Telemetry unit exposure
• Dysrhythmia exam certification required (study guide provided)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification mandatory
• Experience with insulin drips (insulin gtts)
• Competence managing lines, drains (wound vacs, PICC, central lines) and advanced airway devices (BiPAP, CPAP, high flow)
• Proficient in medication administration and telemetry strip verification in EPIC
• Ability to prioritize patient care with ratios typically 1:5 to 1:6 on night shifts

Responsibilities / Duties:

• Conduct ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Safely administer medications and manage drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Insulin
• Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary teams and serve as patient advocate
• Provide education and support to patients and families coping with illness and treatment
• Maintain compliance with professional nursing standards and hospital policies

Schedule & Type:

• 12-hour evening shifts, every other weekend and holiday coverage
• Contract position (travel experience not required; local candidates not accepted)
