Position: Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Lorain, OH
A Registered Nurse with a focus on Medical-Surgical care is needed for a fast-paced 32-bed Med Surg/Oncology unit in Lorain, OH. This contract position involves 12-hour night shifts providing comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations, many requiring specialized attention such as dysrhythmia exams and oncology care. The role emphasizes thorough patient assessment, individualized care planning, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to deliver quality, compassionate care.

Key responsibilities include managing central venous catheter (CVC) line draws, IV starts, medication passes, utilizing various medical equipment (Hoyer lift, Arjo equipment, Alaris pumps, epidural/PCA pumps, Kangaroo pumps, wound vacs), and supporting patients requiring high-flow oxygen. The nurse is also an advocate for patient safety and quality improvement, contributing to discharge planning and patient education.

Qualifications and Desired

Experience:

• Current RN licensure in the working state or under compact agreement
• BLS and NIH Stroke Certification required;
  Oncology experience preferred
• Dysrhythmia Exam certification required
• Strong clinical knowledge in Med Surg nursing with evidence-based care skills
• Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and nursing care plans
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with CVC line management and specialized equipment use is a plus
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification (CMSRN), CCRN, PCCN
