General SummaryThe Clinical Nurse I (CN I) leads the Care Delivery Team, directing care for a team of patients, with the CN II as a resource. The nursing care reflects independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s physical, psychological, and sociocultural needs. CN I is the entry step to the Mercy Clinical Ladder and may progress to CN II in one year.
MinimumKnowledge and Skills
- Graduation from a state‑accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure as an RN in Ohio and current BLS/CPR certification.
- Completion of general and unit‑specific orientation and probationary period, Orientation Checklist.
- Minimum of 12 contact hours of continuing education annually, including Fire Safety & CPR/BL recertification.
- Theoretical knowledge and clinical experience providing nursing care for a variety of patients.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills across diverse backgrounds.
Moderate level of physical exertion required. Occasional exposure to adverse conditions.
Reporting RelationshipsResponsible to Nurse Manager or, in his/her absence, the Administrative Supervisor. May receive direct instructions from CN II or Charge Nurse. Workers supervised:
Licensed Practical Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.
Full time – 36 weekly hours. Shift time 7:00 pm – 7:30 am. Position scheduled every other weekend and holiday.
