Food Service Worker Sub Head Start Part Time
At a Glance!Lower Columbia College is accepting applications for multiple Food Service Worker Substitutes to support food preparation, serving, dishwashing, and sanitization for our Head Start program. This vital, on-call role ensures children receive healthy, USDA-approved meals and snacks in a safe and sanitary environment.
As a substitute, you'll assist with preparing and serving meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, organizing food portions and supplies for classrooms, and supporting transportation needs as directed. This position works up to 19 hours per week with a variable schedule based on program needs. This position reports to the Food Service Manager.
This position is classified as a Food Service Worker under Washington State Classification Specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare food as directed by the Food Service Manager.
- Serve USDA meals for preschool children.
- Maintain kitchen equipment, serving utensils, food preparation and storage areas in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Calculate accurate quantities of eating utensils and food service material for each classroom.
- Select and organize correct table settings and food portions for each classroom.
- Maintain and use inventory system.
- Understand the needs of children and parents, incorporating them into the food program.
- Participate as an active member of the Food Services Team.
- Work in a professional manner.
- Respect the confidentiality of information as defined in the Confidentiality Policy.
- Exhibit independent work skills, leadership, and flexibility.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings and Food Service Team meetings.
- In consultation with supervisor, develop professional work goals and training plan.
- Participate in training as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Occasionally – be able to maintain sight and sound while preparing and delivering meals; frequently – multiple uses of bleach solution for cleaning/sanitizing kitchen and food preparation materials daily/weekly
