Job Summary

Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) – 0.9 FTE – St. John Medical Center, Longview, Washington.

Position Overview:

• 0.9 FTE Operating Room RN

• Work three 12‑hour shifts each week (0700‑1930)

• 5 OR suites with Da Vinci robotics for OB/GYN and Urology surgeries

Compensation & Benefits
  • Wage range: $52.15 – $77.39 per hour (dependent on education, experience, WSNA agreement)
  • $2.50 evening shift differential on applicable hours
  • Additional compensation for BSN/MSN/DNP and specialty nursing certification

Location

St. John Medical Center is a 177‑bed acute care medical center located 40 miles north of Portland, Oregon. The Longview–Kelso area offers a peaceful, family‑oriented community with easy access to Portland, Seattle, the Pacific Ocean, and the mountains.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards.
  • Promote a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach toward patients, families, and care delivery team.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Direct and delegate care to other team members based on education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of hospital policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection prevention programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Accredited School of Nursing required;
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience
    :
    Minimum 1 year RN experience, OR nursing experience or related perioperative/procedural experience considered.
  • Credentials
    :
    • WA State Registered Nurse License (required upon hire)
    • Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support Certification (AHA or Red Cross) (required upon hire)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Skills
    :
    • Demonstrated knowledge of age‑specific principles of growth and development (required)
    • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family‑centered work environment (required)
    • Ability to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy, and procedures (required)
    • Basic computer skills (required)
Working Conditions
  • Lifting
    :
    • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without assistive equipment
    • Fine‑motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures
    • Push/Pull up to 45 lbs. force (e.g., medical carts)
    • Hand‑on CPR at least 20 mins using 100‑125 lbs. of force; frequency seldom or occasionally
    • Ability to move around the area with frequent sitting; bend, stoop, squat, reach, kneel frequently
    • Lifting non‑patient items up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently
  • Environmental Conditions
    :
    • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles
    • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment
  • Mental/Visual
    :
    • Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted)
    • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
