Reentry Center Manager

Salary Range: $111,324 - $123,816 Annually

The Washington State Department of Corrections Reentry division is building safe and strong communities through successful reentry. The agency is committed to being reentry-focused and providing resources for individuals currently in and leaving the system. At the helm of each Reentry center providing a safe and successful transition to the community is a Reentry Center Manager whose goal is to provide leadership to their assigned residential Reentry Center.

Acting as the facility’s Chief of Security, Programs, and Operations, this role creates and maintains a safe, structured, and supportive environment where individuals are treated with dignity, accountability, and respect while working toward stability, employment, and long-term success.

The Reentry Center Manager oversees custody and non-custody staff as well as contracted services to ensure daily operations, safety, and programming align with departmental policy and legal standards. Through thoughtful supervision, problem-solving, and clear communication, this position promotes a culture of safety, consistency, and fairness while also supporting individualized case planning, behavior interventions, and evidence-based programming that addresses each person’s risks, needs, and strengths.

This role plays a key part in building meaningful pathways for reentry by partnering with community and state agencies such as Victim Services, DSHS, DOL, Veteran’s Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, and community colleges. By fostering strong relationships and coordinating resources, the Reentry Center Manager helps individuals access housing, employment, treatment, education, and support systems that reduce barriers to reentry and increase opportunities for lasting change.

Responsibilities
  • Supervising and managing staff, facilities and work performed in assigned Reentry Center:
    • Directing and managing employee work performance to ensure it meets accepted standards for quality and timeliness
    • Maintaining the highest standards of personal/professional and ethical conduct and support the state’s goals for a diverse workforce.
    • Conducting timely employee performance evaluations and ensuring proper coaching and training is provided
    • Assessing staff individually for career development, personal/professional goals, and providing them with training and/or rotational experiences
    • Recognizing good performance and addressing performance deficiencies to help the employee become successful and appropriately document in the employee records
    • Managing staff schedules, including leave, overtime/compensatory time according to departmental guidelines and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Implementing, directing and evaluating statewide programs/policies (e.g., risk management, client programs, community involvement):
    • Approving and oversight of arrests, searches, and management of evidence in accordance with policy and current legal mandates
    • Mitigating individual’s risk to the community by working with staff to accurately assess and identify risk factors
    • Utilizing client needs for program referrals to mitigate risk
    • Developing and implementing Facility Emergency Response, Covid 19 procedures and Pandemic plans
    • Acting as the Incident Commander during emergency situations:
