Cowlitz PUD is the local publicly owned power company for Cowlitz County. We are currently looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst I.

Ensure an adequate and reliable power supply to meet the electric load requirements and clean energy obligations of Cowlitz PUD and the community.
Develop and manage Cowlitz PUD’s assets and planning tools to ensure a high level of electric reliability, physical and cyber security, and safety.
Implement business systems to achieve efficient use of Cowlitz PUD’s resources.
Cowlitz PUD will communicate, educate, and engage with its employees, customers, and stakeholders to maintain positive relationships and prepare for future change.
As a Business Intelligence Analyst, the primary purpose of this position is to turn data into critical information that can be used to make informed business decisions. This position requires the ability to perform in-depth data requirements analysis by working with functional users and subject matter experts. This position will follow a well-defined Business Intelligence methodology to create the required artifacts necessary for dimensional model design and the subsequent handoff to BI/ETL Developers.
The position will ensure all business analytics questions are answered by empowering department data champions to create and publish visualizations, dashboards, and data stories using the District's Business Intelligence toolsets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in information technology. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying.
- Minimum of two (2) years working on data projects including data query and analysis.
- Knowledge of current project management methodologies.
- Ability to effectively gather use case requirements related to data analytics and business intelligence.
- Basic understanding and use of Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Basic understanding and use of programming languages Python and R.
- Ability to create effective reports that tell data stories.
- Strong documentation skills.
Qualifications:
- General knowledge of BI tools and how to use them.
- Basic knowledge of relational databases.
- Experience applying statistical analysis to derive probabilistic outcomes.
- Exposure to DataPARC, PI, or other industrial historian platforms.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills including MACROs and Visual Basic.
- Current Project management Certifications, PMP, SCM, ASM, CSM or PSM 1.
- Experience with Utility data and management.

- Work is performed in the office Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Remote work is not available for this position.
