Community Inclusion Specialist - Full-Time
Full Time Longview, WA, US
Salary Range: $20.30 To $20.91 Hourly
Life Works is looking for a Community Inclusion Specialist to provide opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop, plan & participate in activities in the community. This position requires an enthusiastic and creative individual who supports program participants.
Key Responsibilities- Build relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Communicate effectively with a diverse population
- Write clear and concise progress notes
- Research local, free or low‑cost activities and assist participants in signing up
- Read and understand individualized plans and protocols for participants
- Support participants in activities and service participation
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet program goals
- Manage your own schedule and communicate any issues or concerns regarding services
- Respond to a fluid environment and make quick, appropriate decisions
- Work evenings and weekends as needed to meet client activity schedules
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
- At least 18 years of age
- Pass a department background check, including FBI fingerprint check
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen (does NOT include THC)
- Ability to squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ body weight) and perform CPR and non‑physical or physical interventions when needed
- Strong work ethic, punctuality and flexibility
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Dependable, confident, creative and adaptable
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities is a PLUS
- Employees working 30+ hours per week are eligible to choose from two medical plan options once eligibility requirements are met
