Job Overview

Peace Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a Per Diem role in the Operating Room n Medical Center in Longview, Washington.
Unit: 5 OR Suites.
Other: Davinci XI robots for general and GYN surgery.
Hospital: 177‑bed acute care facility that offers the intimacy of a community hospital paired with the resources of Peace Health, a mission‑driven healthcare system in the PNW.

Position: Per Diem/Relief Day shift Surgical Technologist.
Schedule: 10‑hour shifts, variable days.

• Wage range: $40.26 – $60.76 per hour, wage dependent on surgical tech experience and SEIU Technical union contract terms.
• 15% relief differential in lieu of benefits.
• Additional compensation for CST.
• $3.50/hr evening shift differential for applicable hours.

• Assist the surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties, primarily to prepare and maintain the surgical sterile field.
• Arrange and inventory sterile set‑up for the operation and pass items to the surgical team.
• Understand and apply the principles of asepsis; establish and maintain the sterile field and assure the team preserves a sterile environment.
• Assist in the preparation and moving of patients.
• Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation; assist with clean‑up and room turnover.
• Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
• Participate in all safety initiatives. Adhere to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Required:
  
  Completion of a Surgical Technology Program.
• Required:
  
  Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration.
• Required:
  
  Basic Life Support Certification for healthcare provider.
• Required:
  
  Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
• Preferred: 1-year surgical technologist experience in a full‑service Operating Room.
• Preferred:
  Certified Surgical Technologist.

• Well organized, detail‑oriented and self‑motivated (Required).
• Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others (Required).
• Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision (Required).
• Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required).
• Understanding of operating room protocols (Required).

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without assistive equipment (NIOSH).
• Fine motor skills, frequent reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, grasping.
• Frequent lifting up to 15 lbs; occasionally up to 20 lbs.
• Push/pull frequently up to 20 lbs force; occasionally up to 30 lbs force.

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Time spent on site in a medical/hospital setting.

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
