The Dental Assistant assists the dentist with direct patient care during the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a dental provider. Under the direction and supervision of dental professional staff, the Dental Assistant will room patients, take vitals, record chief complaints, and assist with dental surgeries and procedures. The Dental Assistant interacts regularly with patients, coworkers, and various other people on a day-to-day basis within the dental clinic and displays a friendly manner, a commitment to service, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Responsibilities- Assist the dentist with direct patient care during examinations and treatments under the direction of a dental provider.
- Room patients, take vitals, record chief complaints, and assist with dental surgeries and procedures.
- Interact with patients and staff in a friendly, professional manner; maintain calm under pressure.
- High school diploma plus successful completion of a minimum of one academic year of post-secondary education in a dental assisting program from an accredited educational institution or equivalent. Associates degree in dental assisting and/or certified dental assistant preferred.
- 1-4 years previous work experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.
- Proficient in dental terminology and dental office procedures.
- Knowledge of dental electronic health records and conventional and digital radiography.
- Ability to work with a low-income, multi-ethnic patient population and relate respectfully and effectively to diverse backgrounds.
- Confident, self-directed, able to work within a team and independently. Strong communication, organization, documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Wage Range: $23.00 - $24.77 per hour.
- Schedule:
Shifts are variable between Longview and Woodland Dental Clinics. - This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
