Regular The ecological restoration coordinator is responsible for site clearing, site prep, vegetation and maintenance of mitigation projects. Activities include managing subcontractors and labor crews and working with federal, state and local agencies. Additional duties would include wildlife and invasive species management on mitigation sites. Field work will be required and may include aiding with various field surveys, oversight of subcontractors and light equipment operation.
- Assist in developing new projects, including planning, mobilization, facilities setup and demobilization
- Assist with tree seedling planting and revegetation of mitigation and reclamation sites, as well as vegetation clearing and invasive species control
- Assist with monitoring company-owned properties for nuisance and desired wildlife species
- Conduct maintenance activities in compliance with engineered design criteria and safety, and environmental requirements for mitigation projects
- Assist in assessing wetland and stream resources for potential mitigation projects on new properties
- Comply with all OSHA and MSHA safety and environmental standards to ensure a safe and secure working environment for all employees
MINIMUM:
- 0-5+ years of experience
- Work experience in land clearing, site prep, planting, and wildlife management
- Experience operating light equipment, including chainsaws, tractors, skid steers, and excavators.
- Ability to obtain OSHA 30-hour, CPR and first aid safety training
- Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills
- Positive attitude and team-centered approach to problem-solving
- Ability to travel to sites as needed
Must be able to work independently - Skilled in ArcGIS mapping software, Google Earth and Microsoft Office software.
- Good teamwork skills, self-motivation and excellent communication skills are required
REQUIRED:
- BA/BS in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Forestry, Construction Management or a similar degree. Associate degree and relevant experience can substitute for BA/BS
- Rosgen training
- Experience with stream and wetland construction
- OSHA 30-hour, CPR and first aid safety training
- Herbicide applicator license
- Experience using survey equipment
