The City of Lakeport Police Department is currently seeking to fill 2 full-time patrol positions with our agency. Our Police Department currently serves a city of about 1,000 citizens along with assisting Gregg County Sheriff’s office with any calls outside the city limits or surrounding communities. The City of Lakeport is a small community that borders the south side of Longview.
Our city has fairly low crime rate but high volume traffic flow with people traveling from all over the state and even from other countries. The city is also located near the Gregg County Airport. The City of Lakeport also is home to Ned
E. Williams School and a few small businesses:
Spring Market, ACE Hardware, Mavin Oilfield Equipment Supply, along with several restaurants and smaller businesses. Our department currently employs 2 full-time patrol officers with 2 open full-time positions and 1 reserve along with a City Secretary and Court Clerk. The department furnishes uniforms, Level 3A+ body armor, department‑issued body cameras, radios. All patrol officers employed must provide their own department‑approved firearm, duty rig.
Our officers work 12‑hour shifts starting out at $36,000–$38,000 a year with yearly raises and possible pay increase after completing the FTO program.

- Must have successfully completed a Basic Peace Officers certification course through a TCOLE authorized training provider
- Must not be on probation for any criminal offense above the grade of a Class C misdemeanor
- Must not have been convicted of a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten (10) years
- Must not have convictions of a Class A or felony offense
- Must not have convictions for any family violence offense
- Must not have convictions for DWI in the past ten (10) years
- Cannot be on suspension for a breath test refusal
- Must not have been prohibited by state or federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition
- Must not have been prohibited by state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle within the past twenty‑four (24) months
- Must not be currently under indictment for any criminal offense
- Must not have convictions for crimes involving moral turpitude
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have a valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s license prior to employment
- Must hold a current Basic Peace Officer TCOLE certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience with and commitment to community‑oriented policing
