, leading the development of a new, state‑of‑the‑art passenger terminal at Montreal Metropolitan Airport (Saint‑Hubert). Scheduled to open in late 2025

Job Description

Under the direction of the Catering Operations Manager
, the Transport Duty Manager – Catering Operations is responsible for the daily coordination and supervision of catering activities. The role ensures ground operations are conducted safely
, efficiently
, and in full compliance with operational standards. The Duty Manager also plays a key role in implementing QHSE practices, conducting audits, and leading incident investigations related to ramp services.

The role ensures:
Catering Operations Leadership
  • Lead all daily transport activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant servicing of aircraft.
  • Coordinate driver assignments, vehicle routing, break schedules, and shift coverage.
  • Verify aircraft loading according to loading diagrams, galley plans, and airline specifications
    .
  • Monitor on‑time performance and operational efficiency throughout the shift.
  • Conduct daily briefings with catering drivers to align on goals and safety updates.
  • Assign tasks, manage shift coverage, and support real‑time decision‑making to maintain smooth operations.
  • Ensure proper return‑to‑base procedures, including seal verification, waste offload coordination, and documentation accuracy.
  • Provide coaching and on‑the‑ground support to ramp staff.
  • Resolve operational delays, equipment issues, and irregularities in real time, escalating when required.
QHSE Oversight
  • Enforce compliance with company safety policies
    , airport authority regulations, and Transport Canada standards.
  • Conduct or participate in incident investigations and ensure timely reporting and documentation.
  • Support or lead ramp audits
    , inspections, and quality checks.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ramp safety rules
    , PPE requirements, and vehicle operation policies.
  • Promote a proactive safety‑first culture through visible leadership and training reinforcement.
  • Track and follow up on safety observations and corrective action plans.
  • Support corrective actions and monitor compliance with QHSE recommendations.
Food Safety, Security & Cold Chain Compliance
  • Ensure transport teams follow all HACCP controls, temperature requirements, and safe food handling SOPs.
  • Verify pre‑dispatch temperatures, dry ice placement, and cold chain integrity until delivery to aircraft.
  • Report any signs of tampering, contamination, or security breaches.
  • Confirm all aircraft are serviced only with screened, approved, and documented catering assets.
Administrative & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate Catering service logs, incident reports, and operational records.
  • Support driver qualification files, licensing, recurrent training records, and performance tracking.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve service issues and improve processes.
  • Participate in audits (internal, Transport Canada, CFIA, airline).
  • Carry out other operational duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in transport, ground handling, inflight catering, or ramp operations
    , with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively and motivate teams.
  • Clear criminal background & ability to obtain Transport Canada security clearance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in;
    French

    English is an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License and AVOP (D/A) certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to perform under pressure in a time‑sensitive environment.
