Redwire Space Solutions has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer at our facility in Longmont, CO
. In this role, you will support the development of RF architectures, design new systems and see them through the development life cycle. We are building RF systems for new space and multiple domain communications architectures.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, qualification, and delivery of high-performance RF systems for space and multi domain environments.
- Apply engineering principles to ensure designed components and systems meet all requirements such as structural integrity, structural properties, interface boundaries and mass.
- Interface with multi-disciplinary team members to optimize component and system designs that meet all technical, cost and schedule requirements.
- Utilize hardware-based techniques to perform research and development, iterate on design concepts, correlate engineering models, and help develop manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Provide technical support during flight build, test, and delivery.
- Support the development, management, and maintenance of a system designs and their associated documentation - CAD, Drawings, ICDs, BOMs, etc.
- Utilize Solid Works PDM system to maintain configuration control.
- B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of industry/related experience.
- Experience as a mechanical engineer in development, qualification, and delivery of hardware.
- Knowledge of Solid Works; experience using Solid Works PDM.
- Drafting knowledge with understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 along with tolerance analysis capabilities.
- Experience with preparing content for project stage-gate meetings (such as PDR, CDR, etc.).
- Experience conducting stress/modal/thermal analysis.
- Must be a US Citizen or US Person (as defined by ITAR regulations)
- Background designing hardware for satellites
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturability and experience optimizing designs for production.
- Experience with Solid Works Simulation, Thermal Desktop, NASTRAN or ANSYS is a plus.
- Experience designing antennas, RF systems, or electronic enclosures.
- Experience with space hardware best practices (materials, coatings, COTS, GD&T, NASA standards, etc.).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, including SharePoint and Team.
- Ability to thrive and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working within an AS9100 or similar accredited environment.
- Strong attention to detail with advanced verbal and written communication skills.
