We are seeking to place a Senior-Level Environmental Professional with experience in environmental policy and a background in environmental remediation or compliance to support SAF/IEE remotely.

Job Description
  • Provide support to SAF/IEE at the Pentagon from a remote location. Periodic onsite support may be required.
  • Coordinate, consolidate, develop, and maintain environmental governance and programmatic documents (e.g., Air Force Instructions [AFIs], policies, procedures); action plan(s) recommendations; task and inquiry responses.
  • Provide detailed updates to leadership and stakeholders by participating in meetings/forums and coordinating, consolidating, developing, and delivering and/or presenting associated meeting materials (e.g., slides, after action reports, minutes).
  • Manage tasks through the Enterprise Task Management Software System (ETMS2), tracking tasks through the process to completion.
  • Coordinate with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) and utilize their Environmental Dashboard (eDASH) to prepare Bullet Background Papers (BBPs), Read Aheads (RAHs), Talking Points (TPs) and associated electronic Staff Summary Sheets (eSSSs) for senior leader engagements.
  • Perform program analysis; support the planning, development, and sustainment of environmental programs.
  • Collaborate across the Air Force and with other Department of War (DoW) agencies in support of Air Force program efforts and mission requirements.
  • Review and package reporting requirements for 7-Day Sampling, Monthly Sampling, and Quarterly Planned Sampling reports.
  • Review and package reports for Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) phase progress and status of cleanup response actions.
  • Maintain awareness of potential regulatory changes, analyze impact to the Department of the Air Force (DAF), identify potential DAF policy gaps, develop new policy memoranda and provide recommendations on implementation, track lapsing policies (greater than 12 months old and have not been incorporated into a DAF Policy Directive [DAFPD], DAF Instruction [DAFI], or DAF Manual [DAFMAN]).
  • Act in accordance with new regulatory and policy development on Emerging Contaminants (e.g., Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances [PFAS]) and provide technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other organizations to develop guidance for the field and oversee implementation.
  • Develop responses to Congressional and media inquiries, coordinate with Air Force legal counsel, and consolidate responses for submittal.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with a broad knowledge of DAF and DoW corporate processes; engaging in strategic partnerships with the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW), Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Headquarters Air Force (HAF), the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC), and AFCEC; and substantial knowledge in installation and mission support areas.
  • Familiarity with the following knowledge areas:
  • Facilities data analysis support services
  • Infrastructure system modeling and policy analysis support services
  • Statutory & legislative analysis support services
  • Installation energy program management and support services
  • Strategy and future concepts support services
  • Utilities (water resource/management services)
  • Office sustainment support services
  • Installation and climate resilience support services
  • Environmental Program (Environmental quality and restoration) management support services
  • Ability to independently review complex technical reports and studies, prepare written comments/responses, collaborate with/lead complex teams, and analyze/interpret strategies and guidance from senior Air Force leaders.
  • Working knowledge of Federal, state, and/or local regulations and statutes, as well as Air Force or DoW regulations and documentation is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word and Excel) is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance is required.
  • Experience writing environmental policy is preferred.
  • Motivated self-starters requested.
