Pay Range: $16.19 - $18.17 per hour
Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.
The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
OverviewThe Guest Service Representative acts as the hospital receptionist and responds in a gracious manner to all inquiries for patient information and hospital services. Provides direction to various hospital departments. Assists in the resolution of patient/visitor concerns and complaints. Other clerical duties will be performed as assigned to facilitate the operations of the department. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Responsibilities- Consistently, proactively asks if the public needs assistance.
- Escorts patients and public to destination via wheelchair when appropriate.
- Greets all public entering the facility consistently with a smile and positive attitude.
- Maintains accurate records of patients, admissions and discharges on a daily basis.
- Monitors lobby appearance as necessary, picking up litter, straightening chairs or contacting Environmental Services to assist.
- Provides accurate directions to patients and visitors to all areas of the Medical Center.
- Receives and responds to all inquiries for patient information and answers phones within 4 rings.
- Responds within 30 minutes to all complaints and concerns received at the Information Desk by contacting the appropriate individual for resolution.
- Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service.
- Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records.
- Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors.
- Supports teamwork by cooperative problem solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc.
- Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions.
- Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate.
- Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures.
Required:
- High School diploma
- One to three years prior experience in health care and/or customer service required
- Proficient in Microsoft, EPIC, Visitor Management Systems Applications, Uber Health, Interpreter Services
Preferred:
- Clerical experience preferred
