Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Facilities Projects Supervisor, Building Trades performs as a skilled carpenter and leads a crew of journey‑level carpenters, building maintenance workers and other assigned personnel in the campus carpenter shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leads a crew of journey-level carpenters and other semi-skilled personnel. Prepares cost estimates and lays out jobs. Completes work orders as needed. Orders supplies and materials required for jobs. Assigns and inspects progress, cleanliness and completion of jobs and projects of the shop.
  • Responsible for operation, proper adjustment, and general maintenance of all power equipment and tools in the Carpenter Shop. Responsible for the safe operation of equipment and for enforcing general safety regulations in the shop and at the job site.
  • Works from blueprints, sketches and work orders on various types of construction.

Time Base

1.0 time‑base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,998 (Step #1) – $8,737 (Step #20) per month.
