Overview
Glass House Brands is adding a Purchasing Manager to its retail management team. In this role, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for driving all aspects of the purchasing flow, analysis, and processes for Glass House Brands' Retail locations. They have multi-store responsibilities and will partner with the Senior Director of Purchasing, SVP of Retail, Retail Finance, and Store Managers to establish and maintain a healthy open-to-buy plan in the retail locations within their scope.
Responsibilities
- Sales & Profitability
- Drive and manage a portion of each store’s profitability by curating brand assortments that support the total store business.
- Ensure all designated brand products are in stock based on availability and demand across markets.
- Engage in negotiations with brands to drive sales, optimize pricing strategies, and maximize gross margins.
- Develop, maintain, and execute financial Open to Buy plans by store, brand, and market.
- Maintain tracking of all invoices, deliveries, credits, and pricing for designated brands across all markets.
- Partner with Retail Accounting Lead/Retail Cash Associate and/or Accounting Team to facilitate payments and negotiate terms.
- Partner with Retail Marketing team to drive global messaging to enhance customer communication and drive sales.
- Support execution of retail marketing strategies through brand partnerships to negotiate and confirm promotional details to support growth of business and customer engagement.
- Assist Retail Marketing in maintaining a centralized calendar of designated brand demos, and in-store events with peers to present a cohesive monthly and quarterly calendar for store locations.
- Support Inventory teams in seeking credits for returns, invoice errors, and aging inventory with corresponding brands and distributors.
- Inventory
- Manage purchasing flow of designated brands in each assigned location by following best practices and utilizing all tools available, including Power BI reporting, to ensure accurate reorders and replenishment of key items in accordance with space allocation and velocity.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing team, Store Manager, and Inventory Manager to efficiently execute all purchasing tasks and projects.
- Leadership & Communication
- Lead with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Support, contribute, and participate in purchasing and marketing calls.
- Responsible for communication of designated brand promos and events to Retail Marketing to align with global and store strategies.
- Exhibit consistent professional communication, follow-through and problem-solving skills while maintaining a multi-store perspective of purchasing oversight.
- Communicate purchasing information/directives (pricing, samples, promotions, credits, etc.) to the store team as needed.
- People Development
- Support, develop, and facilitate communication of staff education materials on all current and future product.
- Managing the Environment
- Work with Sr. Director of Purchasing, Retail Regional Director, Store Manager, and Inventory Manager to develop the best strategy to execute and purchasing, merchandising, and storage plans while complying with space constraints and other obstacles or bottlenecks.
- Operations
- Support the team in performing operational procedures accurately and in a timely fashion while adhering to all compliance and company SOPs.
- Support and guide team members to use company product reports (Power BI & Treez Analytics) to react to trends and drive business.
- Consistently evaluate current purchasing and inventory management processes to ensure they are streamlined and efficient. Communicate feedback directly to Sr. Director of Purchasing, Regional Retail Director, Store Management, or Inventory Manager.

- Qualifications and
Experience: - Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Buyer in a retail environment (cannabis retail experience preferred).
- B.A. preferred, but experience is paramount.
- Experience working in a highly regulated business is desirable.
- Uses sound judgment when making decisions.
- Exhibits strong leadership skills amongst peers.
