The VA Long Beach Healthcare is looking to fill the Registered Nurse Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) Acute Rehab Unit position in Nursing Operations Services. The ANM functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or assisting direct patient care.
DutiesThe Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units. They provide coverage for other ANMs as needed. The ANM has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance.
They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence‑based cutting‑edge programs/processes.
The ANM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. They adhere to ethical principles in decision‑making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. They equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promote a culture of accountability for high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes. They cultivate alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence.
The ANM contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence‑based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. They promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organization’s vision and mission. Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).

1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
Preferred Experience- MSN preferred
- Specialty Certification
- At least 5 years experience as a nurse
- Minimum 1 year experience as a nurse supervisor
10:30am – 8:00pm, 2:30pm – Midnight. Monday – Friday, weekends and holidays. (Must be flexible to the needs of the organization)
