The Registered Nurses (RN) will be assigned to the Referral Coordination Initiative Unit in the Nursing Operations Service at the Long Beach VA Healthcare System. The RN will facilitate consult processing to make sure any pre-work is completed before scheduling the veteran to receive care in the VA system or to receive care in the community. The RN will contact each veteran to review care options and appointment availability.
DutiesThe RN practices in a complex patient care setting in collaboration with colleagues and Nurse Managers with minimal supervision. The RN is accountable as assigned as a primary nurse or a team leader for a defined group of patients on his/her shift or for an entire episode of care. Based upon education and experience, this nurse may provide direct supervision and be assigned as a preceptor or shift charge nurse.
