Position Summary The Long Beach Red Shield Services Director oversees all service‑based community programming, operations, sustainability, and connections. This includes, but is not limited to, social services, marketplace, case management, veteran services, anti‑human trafficking, etc. The Director also oversees all staffing and managerial responsibilities to those assigned. Additionally, the Director is responsible for the fiduciary aspects of programs and operations and must be knowledgeable in budgeting, grant writing, fundraising, and resource allocation.
The Director must maintain all records to the standards of the organization and submit reports as required.
Pay Range $76,000 / yr – $82,000 / yr.
Essential Functions
- Support the Corps Officer in furthering the mission of The Salvation Army through बनाउन of the Red Shield Services Director position.
- Administer staff and volunteers including scheduling, time‑clock management, training, evaluation, corrective measures, and interdepartmental moves in coordination with the Corps Officer.
- Develop relevant community programs and services for the departments overseen by the Director.
- Create, implement, and monitor budgets for community programs and short‑term initiatives.
- Connect partner programs, agencies, and organizations for referral or resource provision.
- Oversee the creation, distribution, and optimization of promotional materials such as newsletters, catalogs, flyers, banners, and other mediums.
- Attend meetings and training (internal and external) to promote and improve community programs and services.
- Participate in planning and implementation of fundraising initiatives. qarfi
- Ensure timely statistical reports and maintain accurate documentation for The Salvation Army and cooperative agencies.
- Maintain database records in keeping with Salvation Army and HIPAA standards.
- Follow mandated reporting procedures required by local law enforcement and/or protective agencies.
- Promote services with other agencies and the general community.
- Oversee client‑based programs, appointments, and case management services with staff or independently.
- Perform all other duties assigned within the scope of the position.
Working Conditions Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously. Grasp, push, or pull objects such as files or drawers. Operate computer, fax, and telephone. Lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active uniform‑wearing Salvationist preferred.
- Bachelor of Arts degree or minimum 4 years management experience in a related field;
Master of Social Work (MSW) preferred. - Proficiency in preparing budgets and financial reports. prep
- High efficiency in working with government agencies, philanthropic organizations, or individuals.
- Ability to schedule time autonomously without direct supervision.
- Collaborative skills and ability to take direction for the greater success of the Red Shield.
- Experience in overseeing employees and administering employment‑based measures.
- Ability to complete all required trainings, programs, and certifications as an employee of The Salvation Army.
- Proficiency in computer and digital application skills.
