Deburr / Bench Technician

Location: Long Beach, CA
Shift: Day Shift (M-F / 7:00am - 3:45pm)
Pay: $19.00 - $28.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Position Summary

A precision aerospace manufacturing company is seeking a Deburr / Bench Technician to support the finishing and preparation of machined metal components. This role is responsible for removing sharp edges, smoothing surfaces, and ensuring components meet engineering and quality specifications prior to final inspection or assembly.

The position requires the use of hand tools, pneumatic grinding equipment, and other shop tools in a team-oriented production environment while following strict aerospace quality and safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform deburring, grinding, and polishing operations on machined metal components.
• Use pneumatic tools such as orbital sanders, die grinders, and files to remove burrs and improve surface finish.
• Break sharp edges and correct surface irregularities on CNC machined parts.
• Remove excess material, tabs, or non-part features using bandsaws or other shop equipment when required.
• Verify that surface finish requirements and part specifications meet engineering and customer standards.
• Ensure dimensional integrity of parts is maintained throughout finishing operations.
• Assist quality personnel with First Article Inspections (FAI) or inspection activities when required.
• Follow internal manufacturing documentation and procedures related to surface finishing processes.
• Record work activity and process completion using shop travelers or ERP systems.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with FOD prevention and shop organization standards.
• Comply with all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Support additional production or finishing activities as needed to meet manufacturing requirements.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Skills & Experience

• Experience using hand tools and pneumatic grinding equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with machine shop or CNC machining operations is preferred.
• Ability to follow written manufacturing instructions and technical documentation.
• Basic understanding of aerospace quality systems such as AS9100 is a plus.
• Knowledge of ITAR compliance and counterfeit parts awareness is beneficial.
• Experience working with ERP systems or electronic manufacturing travelers is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product quality and safety standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours per shift).
• Frequent use of hands and arms to handle tools, parts, and equipment.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching during tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 25-40 pounds when required.
• Vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

This role is performed in a machine shop / aerospace manufacturing environment and may involve:

• Operating pneumatic grinding and abrasive tools
• Exposure to dust and airborne particles
• Moderate noise levels requiring hearing protection
• Use of respiratory protection and protective shop garments
• Working near cutting and finishing equipment
