Koch Carbon, LLC is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our Koch Carbon Bulk Transfer (KCBX) team in Long Beach, CA. Reporting directly to the Facility Manager, the Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day operations with a focus on safety, regulatory compliance, productivity, and reliability. This role offers the opportunity to develop long-lasting industrial and bulk material handling skills while fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment.

The successful candidate will champion the PBM philosophy to build strong production capabilities, identify improvement opportunities, provide leadership to the operations team, and partner with site leadership to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What You Will Do
  • Champion the PBM philosophy/culture to develop a strong production capability - Ensure effective implementation, use and application of operations focused reliability systems, tools, and measures to create value and achieve goals
  • Providing daily oversight of the on-site operating contractor
  • Provide leadership and acting as a role model to foster employee engagement and cultural changes needed to reach best in class operational performance.
  • Partner with site leadership to enhance facility performance - lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and develop innovative practices for the operations team.
  • Create and maintain a cohesive team of Shift Leaders and provide coaching and development.
  • Maintain a positive work environment for all employees.
  • Scheduling, coordinating and overseeing all other 3rd party contractors for activities such as maintenance and vessel loading
  • Conducting routine compliance (EHS and maintenance) inspections
  • Develop and maintain operations excellence and process optimization of the plant, process safety, personal safety, environmental compliance, product quality and other applicable areas of compliance
  • Understand facility compliance limits and ensure operation is maintained within those limits.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to access and inspect equipment, including climbing ladders and platforms over 100 feet tall, and entering confined spaces.
  • Ability to utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE) effectively.
  • Ability to perform manual labor tasks such as shoveling and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and work in standing, crouching, or bending positions for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including hot, cold, or inclement climates.
Basic Requirements
  • Leadership experience with industrial operations, manufacturing, warehousing, or transportation
  • Experience supervising or leading a team
  • Experience with MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Willing and able to work after-hours issues or callouts
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC certification following employment.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience in managing dry bulk material handling operations, including pet coke, coal, or other aggregates.
  • Experience maintaining and operating an automated control system (Control Logix)
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution to optimize equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, including accurate reporting, documentation, and record-keeping practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience with occupational health and safety protocols, including industrial hygiene best practices and regulatory requirements.

Salary and Compensation

For this role, we anticipate paying $95,000- $115,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
