Position Summary

The Per Diem Injury Prevention Coordinator (grant funded) is responsible for the coordination and operations of the Miller Children s & Women s Hospital Long Beach Injury Prevention program. This includes community outreach activities, injury prevention educational classes, program marketing and oversight of all grant funded activities for the Injury Prevention program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
  • Facilitates Community Outreach Coalition meetings by scheduling meetings, creating agendas and recording meeting minutes.
  • Develops community awareness of the purpose, goals and objectives of the Injury Prevention Program by establishing and maintaining relationships with community partners and attending community events.
  • Coordinates car seat education classes and distribution of car seats
  • Coordinates with Marketing and Public Relations to develop media information including website content, public service announcements, media interviews, program brochures, and safety education materials.
  • Works closely with the Memorial Medical Center Foundation for participation in fundraising opportunities.
  • Maintains compliance with grant-funded program requirements. Assists with writing grant applications and evaluations. Assist with budget grant fund expenditures, including inventory and organization of purchased supplies and materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • * Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualifications/

    Work Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year prior work experience in a hospital environment or with community health education programs required.
    • Experience with event planning, including management of deadlines and budget constraints.
    • Demonstrated ability to accurately and effectively represent the organization through public speaking and media interviews.
    • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
    • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Driving is required.

    Education/Licensure/Certification:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Marketing, Health Science, Public Health or related field preferred
    • Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician – preferred
    • BLS Instructor– preferred
