Position SummaryThis position is responsible for managing the employee health services at Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital. The Employee Health Manager oversees the hospital’s employee health program, ensuring the physical and mental well‑being of staff. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring occupational health policies, compliance with regulatory standards, and initiatives that promote a safe and healthy workplace.
The position also manages employee injuries, coordinating care, documentation, and return‑to‑work processes, while ensuring compliance with annual health evaluations and reviews.
The Employee Health Manager provides comprehensive oversight of the hospital’s employee health program, ensuring staff wellness, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance. Core responsibilities include directing health services such as pre‑employment screenings, immunizations, and annual evaluations; developing and implementing policies that promote infection prevention and employee well‑being; and monitoring program effectiveness to align with organizational goals.
The role encompasses clinical leadership through conducting health assessments, managing occupational exposures, overseeing employee injury care, and guiding return‑to‑work and fitness‑for‑duty evaluations. The manager also administers the hospital’s Alternative Duty Program, coordinating transitional work assignments for injured employees to facilitate recovery while maintaining workforce productivity.
The Employee Health Manager ensures strict adherence to OSHA, CDC, Joint Commission, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards, maintaining accurate records and preparing reports for audits and inspections. Additionally, the manager designs and delivers training programs on workplace safety, infection control, and health promotion, serving as a subject matter expert for staff and leadership.
Collaboration is central to the position, requiring close partnership with Human Resources, Risk Management, Infection Control, and external healthcare providers to support a safe, healthy, and resilient workforce.

Compensation and BenefitsPlacement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years in occupational health, employee health, or hospital nursing leadership.
- Computer proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Experience with EMR, Epic preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN) preferred.
