Job Summary: Roots Through Recovery is seeking a full-time, mental health therapist (Associate or Licensed) with experience working with substance use, mental health and trauma for our outpatient program in Long Beach, CA. Field-Based opportunities are also available, working with either adolescents and families or adults.
In this role, you will diagnose and treat substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, address trauma, teach communication and healthy coping skills, assist patients in addressing maladaptive behaviors, and guide them through crises as you develop their resilience. Roots Through Recovery provides professional development for our clinicians to help them grow in their role, including EMDR Therapy Training and up to 4 hours per month of paid time to attend continuing education.
Pay: Pay is commensurate with credentials and experience:
Associates: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour;
Licensed Clinicians: $36.00 - $45.00 per hour.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs and diagnoses.
- Provide ongoing therapy to clients with a focus on substance use, trauma, and mental health concerns.
- Address and treat trauma through evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Utilize trauma-informed care practices to ensure a safe, supportive therapeutic environment.
- Use various therapeutic modalities (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, DBT) to address substance use and mental health challenges.
- Provide individual, group and family therapy for patients.
- Teach clients communication skills, coping strategies, and tools for managing stress and emotions.
- Provide crisis intervention and support when clients experience acute emotional or psychological distress.
- Assess client safety and mental health status, ensuring immediate needs are met and creating action plans.
- Assist clients in identifying and addressing maladaptive behaviors that hinder progress in treatment.
- Support clients in building resilience and coping strategies to navigate challenges and prevent relapse.
- Work closely with other clinical staff, including case managers, psychiatrists, and counselors, to provide integrated care.
- Participate in regular team meetings, case discussions, and treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and session notes.
- Complete all necessary clinical documentation and reports in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Provide family therapy or support sessions for families of clients, particularly in cases involving adolescents or young adults.
- Educate family members about substance use, mental health, and trauma to help create a strong support system.
- Provide services in the field, working with clients in their home or community setting.
- Engage with adolescents, families, or adults in a variety of locations based on the needs of the program.
- Provide culturally sensitive care and recognize the unique needs of diverse populations.
