Estimator, Engineering, Civil Engineering

We are seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to support the development of competitive, at-risk pricing for complex underground power and civil infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an individual looking to build a long-term career in heavy civil and utility construction, working closely with experienced estimators and operations leadership to develop real-world pricing based on field execution.

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from design drawings and specifications, including:
• Duct banks, vaults, manholes, and encasements
• Trenching, excavation, shoring, and backfill
• Substation civil scopes such as foundations, slabs, grounding, and earthwork
• Assist in building bottom-up estimates for self-performed work
• Develop pricing for labor, equipment, and materials using defined production rates
• Support constructability reviews and execution risk analysis
• Assist with subcontractor and supplier outreach, bid analysis, and scope leveling
• Maintain organized estimate files, assumptions logs, and backup documentation
• Participate in estimate handoff meetings with project management and field teams
• Update historical cost databases using actual project data
• Support value engineering and alternate construction methodology analysis

• 3–5 years of experience in civil, utility, or infrastructure estimating or project support
• Exposure to underground power, civil utilities, transmission, or substation projects
• Understanding of at-risk and self-performed construction environments
• Ability to interpret civil and utility drawings
• Proficient in Excel and construction estimating software
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Prior field experience (project engineer, field engineer, or similar)
• Familiarity with utility standards and regulated environments
• Knowledge of shoring systems, crew structures, and production rates
